Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Getting started is simple. Book a free 10–15 minute phone consultation through my website. During this call, we’ll talk about what you’re looking for in care, I’ll answer any questions, and we’ll determine whether my practice is a good fit for your needs. If it feels right, we’ll schedule your first appointment — typically within one to two weeks.
InnerClarity Psychiatry & Wellness provides virtual care to individuals located in Minnesota and Iowa. You do not need to be in the Twin Cities metro area — as long as you are physically located in either state at the time of your appointment, you are eligible for care. Appointments are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant video.
At this time, appointments are conducted virtually via secure video. Telepsychiatry offers the added convenience of receiving care from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
Psychiatric medication management at InnerClarity Psychiatry & Wellness supports a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, trauma-related conditions, mood and behavioral concerns, and sleep difficulties. We also help individuals navigating complex or overlapping symptoms that may benefit from a combined integrative approach. Treatment plans are tailored to each person’s needs, ensuring that medications—when appropriate—are used safely, effectively, and in coordination with holistic strategies to support overall mental wellness.
Your initial assessment is a comprehensive 60-minute visit where I take the time to understand you as a whole person. We’ll explore your mental and medical health history, lifestyle, symptoms, relationships, and goals. At the end of the visit, we’ll discuss clinical impressions and collaboratively build a treatment plan tailored to your needs and preferences. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of next steps.
This depends on your individual needs and treatment plan. In the early stages of care — especially when starting or adjusting medication — I typically recommend follow-ups every 2–4 weeks. As you stabilize, we may space visits further apart. The frequency is determined together based on your progress and comfort level.

Rates & Insurance

My cash rate is $395 for initial visits and $190 for routine follow ups.

Yes. I am in-network with Aetna, Medica, Oscar, Oxford, and United Healthcare. Coverage varies by plan, so I recommend verifying your telehealth and mental health benefits with your insurance provider before your first visit.

If your insurance is not listed, you are welcome to be seen as a self-pay client. I provide superbills after each visit that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients successfully receive partial reimbursement this way.

Medication Questions

Medication management involves a thorough evaluation of your symptoms, history, and treatment goals, followed by personalized recommendations that may include medication as part of an integrative approach to care. During your initial visit, we review your goals, discuss options and expected benefits, and create an individualized plan aligned with evidence-based practices and holistic strategies. Follow-up visits focus on monitoring your response, adjusting treatment as needed, and addressing any concerns. The process is collaborative, transparent, and designed to support your overall well-being — not just symptom relief.
It depends on the clinical picture. In some cases, it may be appropriate to begin medication at the initial assessment. In other cases, I may recommend additional evaluation, lab work, or a follow-up visit before starting medication — especially to ensure we have a clear understanding of your symptoms and that medication is the right tool for your situation. Prescribing decisions are made thoughtfully, and you will not be started on anything without a thorough discussion of what to expect.
Preventing and managing side effects and drug interactions begins with a thorough review of your mental and medical history, current medications, supplements, and lifestyle factors before starting any treatment. We prescribe conservatively, select evidence-based options with favorable safety profiles, and educate you on what to expect. During follow-up visits, we closely monitor your response and side effects, inquire about any new medication/supplement, address concerns promptly, and adjust medications or doses when needed. When helpful, we incorporate integrative strategies—such as nutrition, sleep optimization, and stress-management approaches—to support overall tolerance and reduce reliance on higher doses of medication. Our goal is to ensure treatment is both safe and effective, with ongoing collaboration at every step.
If your medication is not providing the relief you expected, or if side effects are affecting your quality of life, that is exactly what follow-up visits are for. We’ll review what’s happening, adjust the dose if needed, explore alternative medications, or consider additional strategies. Medication management is an ongoing, collaborative process — not a one-time decision.

ADHD Evaluation

The evaluation is a three-step process:

  1. A comprehensive initial intake and clinical interview (insurance or $395 if self pay).
  2. Cognitive performance testing ($245 cash pay only).
  3. Follow up for ADHD focused assessment, results review visit (insurance or billed at standard follow-up rates).
Many ADHD evaluations rely primarily on self-report questionnaires or brief clinical interviews. While these tools are useful, they do not capture the full picture — particularly when symptoms overlap with anxiety, depression, burnout, or trauma. My evaluation integrates comprehensive clinical interviewing with objective cognitive performance testing, which measures attention, impulse control, processing speed, and executive functioning under structured conditions. This provides a more nuanced and clinically sound basis for diagnosis and treatment recommendations.

Weight Management & Smoking Cessation

This is a 45-minute focused assessment where we explore the physical, emotional, and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to your weight concerns. We’ll review your health history, any previous weight loss attempts, current habits, and your goals. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan that may include nutritional guidance, behavioral strategies, lifestyle modifications, and medication when clinically appropriate.
When clinically appropriate, medication will be discussed as one component of a comprehensive weight management plan. I evaluate each individual’s health profile, goals, and medical history to determine whether medication is a suitable option. Medication is used to support — not replace — the lifestyle and behavioral changes that drive lasting results.
The initial assessment explores your relationship with smoking or vaping, your triggers, previous quit attempts, and your readiness for change. From there, we build a personalized quit plan that may include behavioral strategies, stress management tools, and evidence-based cessation medication when appropriate. Follow-ups provide ongoing support, accountability, and adjustments to your plan as needed.

Physical Health Services

I do not serve as a designated primary care provider. My physical health services — including screening, weight management, and smoking cessation — are focused areas of care that complement your existing primary care relationship. I strongly encourage all clients to maintain an ongoing relationship with a primary care provider for preventive care, routine health maintenance, and the management of complex medical conditions.
Yes. I may recommend lab testing to assess nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, metabolic markers, or other factors that could be contributing to your mental or physical health symptoms. Lab orders can typically be completed at a local lab of your choice.
